PROJECT AIMS
Members of the Cynosure team have been leading Cal Healthcare Compare, a nonprofit organization governed by a multi-stakeholder board that includes representatives of hospitals, purchasers, consumer groups, and health plans. Cal Healthcare Compare offers two free, publicly available websites featuring quality data and performance ratings on California hospitals and nursing homes. This information is provided to help guide healthcare consumers to make more informed choices about their medical decisions. We firmly believe that by making this information publicly available, we will improve the health care system. Cal Healthcare Compare provides two free, publicly available websites to help Californians choose the hospital or nursing home that best fits their needs. The free websites, www.calhospitalcompare.org and www.callongtermcarecompare.org offer an unbiased, one-stop snapshot of how local facilities measure up against each other and to statewide averages on a variety of quality metrics. Users can quickly search for hospitals or nursing homes by inputting their zip code, city, or nursing home name, then save and compare their favorite facilities.
Cal Long Term Care Compare is designed to make it easy for individuals and caregivers to start the process of selecting a nursing home. The website provides comparative data for 1,202 California facilities. Since data alone does not provide the full picture, CLTTC provides resources to individuals and caregivers on how to use the website, how to understand their needs, how to use data to complement the decision-making process and guidance on how to assess nursing homes in person using a Site Visit Checklist.
Cal Hospital Compare features quality and performance information on California hospitals to help healthcare consumers make smarter and more informed choices when making medical decisions.
