The OHA HIIN Convening audience of hospital quality leaders, clinicians, and others involved in safe patient care were treated to an OUTSTANDING presentation by Cynosure Improvement Advisors: Pat Teske, BSN, MHA and Kim Werkmeister, RN, BA. Their presentation was an enormous success as the evaluation response was overwhelmingly positive, with the highest scores possible!
The topic title included: UP Campaign overview, and a separate focus on Get UP, plus introduction to the Model for Improvement and PDSA
A large contingent of hospitals from the state of Oklahoma convened on March 19th and 20th to learn about how a focus on progressive early mobility can have a broad positive effect on several key patient safety concerns such as falls, pressure injuries, VTE, readmissions and many others. The sessions were focused on the concepts of “mobility as medicine”, the use of broad strategies to effect positive change across multiple patient safety concerns with the use of the UP Campaign strategies, and engaging patients and families in the efforts. The event also included practical skill building in the Model for Improvement and designing and executing small tests of change. Pat and Kim were joined by Tara Bristol-Rouse of HRET with a focus specifically on building patient and family engagement in this work.
